Feature Your SATA Solutions at Flash Memory Summit 2017

SATA-IO will exhibit at the 2017 Flash Memory Summit (FMS), August 8-10 in Santa Clara, CA. We’re planning to showcase the continued evolution of the SATA specification as well as the wide variety of SATA-based solutions. These products may include SATA SSDs, SMR HDDs, SATA M.2 cards, mSATA, Solid State Hybrid Drives (SSHDs) and more.

Furthermore, we recognize that many of our member companies will be exhibiting and announcing new SATA solutions at the show. Be sure to send us your official product press release ahead of time and we’ll promote your news on the SATA-IO website and to FMS attendees onsite.

SATA-IO will also be exhibiting at the Storage Visions Conference 2017, October 16 in Milpitas, CA. If the timing of this event is more suitable for providing product displays or announcements to SATA-IO, let us know! 

2017-2018 Board of Directors Election - Nomination Period Open

The nomination period for the 2017-2018 SATA-IO Board of Directors is now open!

Per the Bylaws, the SATA-IO maintains seven Directors on its Board.  Of these seven, four of the Directors will remain on the Board – Dell, Intel, Microsemi and Seagate.  The remaining Director positions are to be elected/re-elected each year. 
 
If you would like to suggest up to two individuals, who are employed by a member company for possible nomination, please complete the attached form and return it to SATA-IO via email or fax (fax # 503-644-6708) by March 28, 2017.  Additionally, please complete a one page summary of each nominee addressing the criteria listed below. 
Relevant criteria for Director Candidate selection includes:

• Qualifications of the individual nominated.
• Active participation by the individual’s member company in the activities of SATA-IO during the past year.
• Clear indication of technical and marketing resources the member company could invest in SATA-IO activities.
• The member company’s commitment to producing SATA products.
• Willingness to meet the additional dues requirements as outlined in the membership agreement.

From the nominations received, the current Board will select no more than 12 final candidates to be included on the ballot. The SATA-IO members will then be sent an email ballot which will be due back in early April.  The results of the election will be announced at the Annual Members Meeting webinar in April.

SATA-IO Annual Members Meeting - April 26, 2017 at 2 p.m. PDT

Please save the date for the Annual SATA-IO Members Meeting which will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 2:00 PM (PDT) via webinar. The Annual SATA-IO Members Meeting will be an opportunity for employees of member companies to learn about the latest developments and events happening within SATA-IO.

Support SATA-IO's Marketing and Educational Activities

The SATA-IO Marketing Working Group (MWG) is tasked with developing new initiatives that educate the storage community about SATA technology and highlighting the membership benefits of SATA-IO. There is currently a dedicated core driving these efforts, but the MWG is always looking for additional members to contribute their expertise to its mission. Current initiatives within the MWG include:

• Creation of insightful SATA focused contributed articles for industry publications and media outlets
• Development of key messages and positioning surrounding the future of SATA technology
• Collection of recent member whitepapers and technical resources for promotion over SATA-IO’s communication channels
• Coordination of event presence and speaking opportunities at leading industry conferences

By joining and participating in the MWG, you can guide the SATA-IO’s marketing and educational programs, while also being up-to-date on the many ways to promote your company’s SATA expertise. The MWG holds a bi-weekly (alternating Tuesday mornings) call where members and the SATA PR team collaborate on ways to showcase SATA, such as pursuing speaking opportunities, developing new educational resources and shaping SATA-IO’s presence at popular industry events.
