SAVE THE DATE: UTD 1.5.1 Dry Run Rescheduled for November

UPDATE - There's still time to participate in the upcoming Dry Run. The SATA-IO Logo Work Group has changed the date for the dry run planned for late September and is now targeting November.

The dry run will pilot testing around the Unified Test Definition (UTD) version 1.5.1 which includes 13 new power management (DEVSLP) tests. More to details to follow on the SATA-IO Logo Work Group Page as the plan is finalized.

Upcoming Tradeshows

Look for SATA-IO Marketing Work Group members at these events this year. Contact SATA-IO Administration if you would like to participate.

SATA-IO Presenting at Storage Visions Conference 2017

SATA-IO will be one of the presenters at the upcoming Storage Visions Conference 2017 in Milpitas, CA on October 16. Storage Visions Conference will feature presentations from technical experts, industry leaders and analysts from all over the world. SATA-IO MWG is also hosting a booth in the exhibit hall. We look forward to seeing you there. Come by and talk with us and share your experiences from the conference or any other topics on your mind.

Amit Bakshi, Engineering Program Manager, Teledyne LeCroy, will present "SATA-IO Improvements In SATA UTD 1.5.1: DEVSLP Test Realization." Bakshi will discuss device behavior during DEVSLP operation and implementation background for recent SATA-IO DEVSLP test process and timing constraints updates intended to improve device interoperability, reliability and power efficiency.

Flash Memory Summit 2017 Recap: Improvisation Key to Connecting to New Members

SATA-IO had the opportunity to exhibit at the 2017 Flash Memory Summit (FMS), August 8-10 in Santa Clara, CA, to showcase the continued evolution of the SATA specification as well as the wide variety of SATA-based solutions.

Unfortunately for everyone, a booth fire closed the exhibit hall for the duration of the conference. The SATA-IO MWG team set up an improvised booth in one of the main hallways and continued to engage with conference attendees. Soon, other conference exhibitors joined the makeshift exhibit hall. The SATA-IO MWG team was able to discuss the value and benefit of SATA-IO with approximately 50-75 members and potential members who visited the improvised booth.

Many attendees were surprised to see SATA represented at an event primarily focused on flash memory. Some stopped by to learn more; others to question the relevance of SATA as technologies like NVMe continue to grow incapacity, speed, economy and market scale. By relating how SATA technology remains a relevant solution because it is flexible, reliable and economical, the SATA-IO MWG team engaged in a broad range of discussion along several topics relevant to the industry.

Thank You to Members: Products for Flash Memory Summit Displays

Special thanks to the following member companies who provided SATA-based solutions for the SATA-IO exhibit: Greenliant, Intel, Micron, Seagate, Teledyne LeCroy, and Western Digital.

The member display and demo products were essential in demonstrating the continued impact and relevance of SATA Technology and the products were one of the main reasons that people stopped at the booth to engage and discuss SATA Technology with the SATA-IO MWG team.

If your company is interested in providing a SATA product display for our booth at FMS 2018 or would like to share an upcoming announcement for public SATA storage product news over the next 1-3 quarters, contact the SATA-IO press team at sata@nereus-worldwide.com.

SATA-IO.ORG Website Update Underway!

SATA-IO MWG is excited to have the opportunity to update the SATA-IO.ORG website! Over the last few quarters, MWG has been busy planning SATA-IO.ORG's new website look and feel to make the site more modern and user friendly for desktop and mobile devices. The progress is available to members at: SATA-IO Website Update Material. Feel free to review and join the next MWG call to provide feedback.

Help Guide SATA-IO's Marketing and Education Activities

The SATA-IO Marketing Work Group (MWG) is tasked with developing new initiatives that promote and educate the storage community about SATA technology and future roadmaps and to highlight the membership benefits of SATA-IO. Currently, there is a dedicated MWG core team driving these initiatives, but the MWG is always looking for additional members to contribute their expertise to this effort. By participating in the MWG, you can guide the SATA-IO's marketing and educational programs, while also staying up-to-date on the many ways to promote your company's SATA expertise.

The MWG holds a bi-weekly call where members and the SATA PR team collaborate on ways to showcase SATA, such as pursuing speaking opportunities, developing new educational resources and shaping SATA-IO's presence at popular industry events. We invite all SATA-IO members to join the call to help chart the course for MWG, SATA-IO and the industry.

To join the MWG, login to Causeway and request access on the Your Workgroup Memberships page.
